Review available profiles

Navigate to Settings → Customization → Audit Checklists. Confirm the page title Audit checklist profiles. Review each profile's name, SYSTEM/FIRM type, category count, item count, and default star. Open a SYSTEM profile with View to study it. System profiles are read-only.

Create or clone

Click Create New Profile for a blank profile, or click Clone beside the closest existing profile. If cloning, enter the new profile name and click Clone. Replace Profile Name and add a description covering engagement type, framework, owner, and intended effective period. Click Save before building the detail.

The clone is a firm-owned working copy and is not default automatically.

Build categories

Click Add Category. Select the generated category and rename its key/label where offered. Order categories with Move Up and Move Down. Repeat for planning, execution, statutory, reporting, or other approved areas. Keep category names distinct enough that engagement users can find the right evidence step.

Deleting a category deletes its items from the profile. Confirm the target and retain the approved source methodology before continuing.

Configure checklist items

Select a category and click Add Item. Expand the item and enter the instruction/question. Complete Section and Source Reference where shown. Cite the applicable SA, law, rule, or firm-methodology paragraph precisely. Configure the available response/evidence settings, required state, guidance, and ordering. Click Save Item and verify the success message. Repeat until every required procedure is present once and in the correct category.

Do not use one broad item such as “Complete audit.” Each item should describe a reviewable outcome that can be supported, marked not applicable with a reason, or escalated as a finding.

Test downstream engagement use

Create or use a synthetic engagement of the intended type. Initialise its audit checklists using the new profile where the selection is offered. Confirm category/item order, source references, required states, response controls, and evidence expectations. Complete representative Pass, Fail, N/A, comment, document-link, and finding hand-off paths. Confirm reviewer status and progress totals respond as intended. Record methodology approval outside the builder if the firm requires controlled sign-off.

Make the profile default

Return to Audit checklist profiles. Click Set as Default for the approved firm profile. Verify the default star. Initialise a fresh synthetic engagement and confirm the intended profile is selected.

The default is a starting choice for future work. Existing engagement checklists are not a live view of the profile and should not be assumed to change retroactively.

Revise or remove a profile

Clone for a major methodology revision so the previous approved profile can remain identifiable. Edit only FIRM profiles. Change the default before deleting the current firm default. Delete only after confirming no new engagements should use it and understanding how existing engagement instances retain their copied content. The Settings UI does not provide a formal archive/publish/effective-date workflow; keep those controls in the firm's methodology register.

Expected result

The profile is complete, reviewable, tested in a synthetic engagement, and—when intended—marked as the firm default for new audit checklist initialisation.
