Choose the engagement and data year
Open Data → Data Import from the engagement sidebar. Confirm the selected engagement. Choose the current-year or prior-year pill. Enter an optional import name that identifies the source and period without exposing secrets. Select the source appropriate to that year and client setup.
Current-year work normally requires transactional data. The Excel Trial Balance option is intended for a linked prior year and does not replace current-year vouchers/subledgers.
Import a Tally export file
Choose Tally XML File. Upload the supported Master and Transactions exports together when available. Wait for parsing and automatic normalization; a reload should resume a stored running import. Review validation/errors and per-entity counts in Import Complete. Confirm that the period and debit/credit/control totals agree with the source. Click Approve Import only after review.
Large files and imports are asynchronous. Do not submit the same batch again merely because the page is still polling.
Pull from Live Tally or ERPNext
Confirm the AuditLens Bridge is paired and the correct client company is linked/in scope. Choose Live Tally, select the company, and click Confirm & pull. Monitor every entity job and investigate failures/cancellations. Verify that the refreshed snapshot and Data Summary reflect the intended period.
Use a saved connection when available; avoid re-entering credentials unnecessarily. Confirm the site and date range. Start the pull and review each extracted entity/result. Never place API keys or secrets in screenshots, filenames, notes, or documentation.
Add/import a prior year
Click Add Prior Year and select the appropriate earlier FY/period. Switch to its year pill. Choose Excel Trial Balance if using the prior-year template. Download Blank Template, complete the .xlsx, and upload it. Review balance, preview and row errors. Click Confirm & Import before the validation session expires. Verify created, updated and auto-classified counts.
To unlink a prior year, confirm whether the action only removes the link or also deletes imported data. Data deletion can be asynchronous and material; preserve evidence and use the least destructive option that meets the requirement.
Review Data Summary and history
Expand Data Summary. Review entity counts and totals. Open an entity to search, sort and inspect real records in the detail drawer. Review failures, skipped records, unsupported fields and the imported period. Expand Import History and verify source, status, actor/time and approval. Delete only an authorised failed/draft import that is safe to remove. Running or approved imports may be protected.
Pin and monitor a Tally snapshot
Open the engagement's Data Source panel. Click Pin snapshot or Pick a snapshot. Select a READY snapshot with the correct company, label, taken time and period, then click Pin. Use Take & pin fresh only when the correct single in-scope company is unambiguous. Read In sync or Drift detected and review entity-level pinned/current AlterID changes. Review the year-over-year record-count comparison and investigate material volume swings. If findings are flagged stale, click Review, open each finding and re-perform the affected work before sign-off.
Pinning preserves replayability; refreshing changes the evidence population. Before repinning, record why, preserve the old snapshot/import lineage, and rerun affected work.
Expected result
The correct CY/PY populations are imported, reviewed and approved; the engagement points to a known READY snapshot where applicable; and any drift/stale finding is resolved or explicitly held before downstream work.
