Configure, test, and troubleshoot firm email
Configure SMTP delivery, sender/reply-to identity, enabled email types, and template branding; then send a controlled test and review delivery history without exposing the SMTP password.

Prepare the mailbox
Create or approve a firm-owned sender mailbox. Obtain SMTP host, port, TLS/SSL requirement, username, and an application-specific password or restricted credential. Configure SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and provider sending permissions outside AuditLens as required. Approve From name, reply-to address, logo/support links, and which product email types may send. Choose a controlled internal recipient for testing.
Configure delivery and SMTP
Navigate to Settings → Integrations → Email Settings. Under Email Delivery, enable or disable firm delivery according to policy. Under SMTP Server Settings, enter SMTP host and Port. Select TLS or SSL exactly as required; do not enable incompatible modes by guesswork. Enter SMTP username. Enter the password/app password only in the password field. An existing secret may remain stored even when not displayed; follow the field hint before replacing it.
Configure sender and email types
Under Sender Details, enter From email, From name, and Reply-to email. Under Email Types, enable only the invitation, notification, reminder, filing, or other message categories approved by the firm. Under Email Template Branding, enter the approved Logo URL, Header color, Support email, and Website URL. Click Save configuration and wait for Firm email configuration saved successfully.
Send and verify a test
Enter the controlled Test email address. Click Send Test Email. Wait for the sent-success message. Confirm inbox delivery, From/Reply-to, subject/body, links, logo, colours, spam placement, and mobile rendering. Review the delivery log/table for provider response/status where available.
A “sent” response means the SMTP submission succeeded; it does not guarantee final inbox placement or that a recipient acted on the email.
Rotate the SMTP credential
Generate a replacement credential at the provider. Enter it in the password field, save, and send the controlled test. After successful delivery, revoke the old credential. If compromise is suspected, disable delivery first, rotate immediately, and review provider and AuditLens logs.
Expected result
Approved product email types leave through the intended firm sender, render with approved branding, and can be traced through test/delivery records while the SMTP secret remains concealed.
