Firm users authorised to manage methodology or firm settings. Settings → Customization → Document Templates. The built-in Management Representation Letter (SA 580) only. This page does not create a new document type or a reusable Independent Auditor's Report template.
Before you begin
Obtain the approved firm wording and the reviewer responsible for SA 580 methodology. Preserve every required representation and statutory reference. A shorter paragraph is not necessarily an adequate representation. Identify every placeholder in the system text and the engagement field that supplies it. Use a synthetic/test engagement for output review. Do not test with an issued client document.
Open the template
Navigate to Settings → Customization → Document Templates. Select Management Representation Letter (SA 580). Review the status at the top of the page: Using defaults means the firm has no saved section overrides. N section(s) customized means one or more firm overrides are active. Read the template-customization notice and confirm that single-brace placeholders such as {companyname} and {periodend} are present where required.
Edit one section
Locate the required section and click Edit. Change Section title only when the approved document structure requires another heading. Edit Content. The field supports HTML used by the document generator, including paragraphs, lists and bold text. Keep the markup simple and use the formatting already present in the default section. Click View default content to compare the proposed wording with the system version. Click Apply. This updates the page's pending override; it does not yet save the template to the server. Test the saved wording
Open a synthetic/test statutory-audit engagement that contains a company name and valid period. Generate a fresh Management Representation Letter from the engagement's reporting/letters workflow. Open the generated draft and verify headings, numbering, paragraphs, lists and page breaks. Confirm that {companyname}, {periodstart} and {periodend} have been replaced with the synthetic engagement values. Search the output for { and } to find unresolved placeholders. Reset a customization
Reset one section
Open the customized section. Click Reset and confirm Reset this section to default? Click Save template. Until the page-level save succeeds, the reset is only pending.
Reset the complete template
Click Reset all to defaults. Read the confirmation explaining that all firm customizations for this template will be removed. Confirm the reset and wait for Template reset to defaults. Generate a test draft again; previously downloaded documents remain unchanged.
Expected result
The page shows the correct customized-section count, a newly generated test letter uses the approved firm wording, every supported placeholder resolves, and no previously issued artifact is silently changed.
