Before you begin

Open the correct firm workspace and confirm the setting you intend to change. Check that your role allows the action. Gather the approved firm, user, template, rate, branding, or integration details needed for the task. Review any effect on active users, clients, engagements, returns, or reports before saving.

Open the access page

Navigate to Settings → Security → Platform Access.

The page contains:

Pending — requests awaiting a decision; Active — approved grants that have not expired or been revoked; and History — completed, denied, expired, or revoked grants and their events.

Only Managing Partners, Firm Admins, or authorised data custodians can review requests. Other users see Access denied with guidance to contact a firm administrator.

Review a pending request

Open Pending. Open the request detail. Verify the requesting administrator’s identity and platform role. Read the business Reason. Review the requested Scope: firm, specific client/portal, engagement, data category, or other restriction shown. Review the requested duration and the resources/actions permitted. Check the request history for changes or previous decisions. Independently confirm the support case through the approved channel if the purpose is unclear.

Approve access

Approval grants temporary customer-data access and is consequential.

Click Approve only after completing the review. Choose the shortest sufficient Duration; the product limits approval to the permitted range. Enter approval notes that explain the authorised purpose without copying sensitive client data. Review the administrator, scope, and expiry again. Click Approve access.

Expected result: the request moves to Active, with the approved scope, expiry, and approval event visible.

Deny access

Click Deny. Enter the reason. Click Deny request.

Expected result: the request moves to history as denied. Denial does not prevent a future request with a corrected reason or scope.

Revoke active access

Open Active. Confirm the grant and administrator. Click Revoke. Enter the reason for ending access. Click Revoke access.

Expected result: access ends and the revocation event appears in history. Escalate immediately if the grant was used outside its approved purpose.

Review history

Open History and inspect the event timeline, including request, decision, activation, use where shown, expiry, and revocation. Use Refresh when checking a recent action.

Expected result

The selected setting is saved in the correct firm workspace, its effect is visible to the intended users or outputs, and the change can be reviewed from the relevant record or history.
