India Audit Lens
Manage templates, accounting policies, and statutory rates
Reusable templates standardise future engagement work. Changes can affect many engagements, so clone and test before replacing a firm default.

Edit standard document templates
Navigate to Settings → Customization → Document Templates. Choose the Management Representation Letter (SA 580) or Engagement Letter (SA 210). Edit section titles and content. Use only the supported formatting shown in the editor. Review all merge fields and conditional sections. Save and wait for Template saved successfully. Generate a draft for a synthetic/test engagement to confirm the output.
Changes apply to future engagements. Reset to defaults removes the firm customization for the template; confirm before using it.
Create or clone a structured profile
The same safe pattern applies to Acceptance checklist templates, Audit checklist profiles, Entity understanding profiles, and Accounting policy profiles:
Open the relevant page under Settings → Customization. Prefer Clone when starting from a system/default template; system content may be read-only. Enter a unique profile/template name and description. Add, rename, and reorder sections/categories/policies. Add each question/item with its type, guidance, regulatory/source reference, options, required state, applicability, and auto-fill source where offered. Save individual items and the profile header. Review the complete structure in order. Set it as default only after testing it on a new representative engagement/client assessment.
Deleting a firm template/profile is destructive. Confirm that it is not the required default and understand how existing engagements retain or reference their copied/versioned content.
Maintain statutory rates
Navigate to Settings → Customization → Statutory Rates. Review the current value, unit, category, effective period, source, and history. Click Change for an existing rule. Enter the new Value, Effective from, optional Effective to, Reason, and Source (notification / citation). Click Propose. If approval is required, an eligible reviewer clicks Approve or Reject after checking the cited authority and dates. Open History and confirm the effective version.
To add a firm-private rule, click Add custom rule and complete Code, Category, Unit, Title, Citation, Initial value, and effective dates.
Expected result
New future work uses the approved default profile/template/rate effective for its context. Existing engagements should be reviewed rather than assumed to update automatically.
