Customise an engagement audit report in Report Studio

Generate and edit the report sections for one engagement while preserving their source/status and the finalisation lock. These changes belong to the engagement report; they do not create a reusable firm-wide…

Before you begin

Open the correct client, engagement and financial year. Complete the financial statements, findings, materiality, going-concern work, checklists and disclosure/signature data required by the report. Confirm who may select the opinion, approve modified wording, enter the UDIN and finalise. Preserve the current draft/final artifact before a material regeneration or unlock.

Open the builder

Open the engagement. Navigate to Review → Report Studio. Review Readiness and remediate required items at their source. Click Build Report. In Configure, choose Part A: IAR.

Generate the IAR sections

Click Generate or Generate Now when no IAR sections exist. Wait for the success message showing the number of generated sections. Review the system opinion suggestion and reason; it is decision support, not the partner's opinion conclusion. Review every section's status and source badges:

Regenerate refreshes auto-generated content from current data/templates. The backend preserves sections already marked User Edited, AI Drafted, Approved or Locked, but you must still review the complete report after regeneration because other sections and the opinion suggestion may change.

Edit a report section

Locate the section and click Edit. In the drawer, review Section Title and Content. Use the editor's headings, bold, italic, underline and ordered/unordered list controls. Avoid unsupported formatting pasted from Word. Reconcile the wording with the engagement evidence, findings, opinion and applicable SA. Click Save and wait for Section saved. Confirm the card now shows Edited and Manual.

If a section is eligible for Draft with AI, review the full draft, trace it to evidence and edit it as necessary. AI-drafted wording is never approved merely because it was generated.

Include or exclude a section

Click the eye control on a section card. Confirm the card's visible/included state. Document why an optional/conditional section is excluded. Re-run readiness and preview the full package.

Do not hide a required Basis, statutory, going-concern, key-audit-matter or other section to bypass an unresolved conclusion.

Customise statutory and supporting parts

In Configure, select Part B: Legal & Regulatory. Review and edit the applicable CARO clauses. Generate/review Section 143(3) and Rule 11(g) content where applicable. Open Signature and save the authorised partner/firm/place/date details. Open Financial Statements and confirm the correct generated versions. Open Notes & Policies, generate notes, and use a supported override only after source review. Open Preview & Export and inspect the complete package.

Finalisation effect

Finalisation locks report sections. To change a finalised report, preserve the old artifact, obtain partner authorisation, use Unlock for Editing, make and review the change, and repeat readiness, UDIN, finalisation and circulation controls. Unlocking does not erase the professional obligation to document supersession.

Expected result

Every included section agrees with engagement evidence, manual/AI changes are visibly identified, required sections are not hidden, the preview is complete, and the assigned partner controls the opinion and finalisation.
