Add, verify, and manage a custom domain
Connect a firm-owned subdomain to the AuditLens auditor workspace, client portal, or supported combination. The feature is plan-gated and requires access to the firm's authoritative DNS provider.

Prepare the domain
Choose a dedicated subdomain such as audit.example.com or portal.example.com. Confirm the firm owns and controls the parent domain. Identify who can add DNS records and approve production cutover. Check existing DNS, email, security, proxy/CDN, and certificate dependencies. Do not use an apex/bare domain such as example.com; the form identifies it as unsupported.
Add the domain
Navigate to Settings → General → Custom Domains. Review the Default workspace URL and current domain register. Click Add custom domain. Enter only the hostname, for example audit.example.com—not https:// or a path. Review any typo/TLD warning before continuing. Under Use this domain for, select the auditor workspace, client portal, or supported combined use intended by the firm. Click Continue. Confirm Domain added. Add the DNS records and click Verify.
Add DNS records and verify
Open DNS records for the new domain. Copy each displayed record name, type, and value exactly into the authoritative DNS provider. If a TXT record already exists at the same name, follow the provider's supported multi-value method; do not overwrite unrelated verification/security records. Save the DNS change and allow for propagation. Return to AuditLens and click Verify. If verification fails, read Last verification result, compare public DNS, and correct only the identified record. Make the domain primary
Complete desktop and mobile login tests first. Verify email links, bookmarks, SSO/integrations, and client-portal routing where relevant. Click Set primary for the verified domain. Confirm the workspace now advertises the intended primary address. Keep the standard AuditLens workspace URL available as a recovery route under firm policy.
Disable, enable, unset, or remove
Unset primary stops treating the domain as preferred without deleting it. Disable stops normal use while preserving the record. Enable re-enters verification where required. Remove deletes the configured domain record. Confirm users, invitations, saved links, DNS, integrations, and support communications no longer depend on it.
After disabling/removing, coordinate DNS cleanup separately. AuditLens cannot safely infer which DNS records are shared with other services.
Expected result
The domain is verified, serves the correct tenant over HTTPS, routes to the intended auditor/portal experience, and is primary only after a successful cutover test.
