  • 157A person who has become surety for the defaulter’s amount may be proceeded against under this Chapter as if that person were the defaulter.

Rule 157 permits recovery proceedings against a person who has become surety for an amount due from a defaulter. For that purpose, the surety may be proceeded against under this Chapter as though the surety were the defaulter. The condition is the person’s undertaking as surety for the amount due; the rule applies that recovery treatment to the surety.[1]
